The 22nd AIFA National Report 2025 on Clinical Trials of Medicinal Products in Italy provides an updated snapshot of the state of clinical research in our country, in the first year of full operation of the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS) and of the new European regulatory framework introduced by Regulation (EU) n. 536/2014 536/2014
The Focus summarises the main findings of the Report, highlighting the most significant changes compared with the previous year: the rebound in the number of authorised clinical trials, the consolidation of the authorisation system, Italy’s growing participation in international clinical trials and, at the same time, the critical issues affecting independent research and the territorial distribution of clinical‑trial activities
Through the analysis of the main figures and tables in the Report, the focus, prepared by SCF, provides an interpretative framework for the data, highlighting current trends and future challenges in maintaining the competitiveness of the Italian clinical‑research system, while at the same time promoting a strengthening of academic and non‑profit research
